All about the 3 Day Etosha Getaway (Accommodated).

Day 1 Windhoek – Etosha Okaukuejo

Today we leave early morning heading to Etosha national park, which is a 4 to 5 hour drive.
Famous for its floodlit waterhole Okaukuejo Rest Camp is also the administrative center of Etosha. Most visitors travel though this camp with its characteristic stone tower and Etosha Ecological Institute is also situated within the camp.

The rest camp was formerly a military outpost founded in 1901 and the tower was added in 1963. Located in the south of Etosha National Park, Okaukuejo is only 17 km from Anderson Gate. Okaukuejo offers a wide range of accommodation as well as all the necessities such as a petrol station and a shop. The restaurant and bar offer refreshments and delicious meals, while the swimming pool offers relief on hot days. The waterhole is a hub of animal activity starting in the early hours of the morning. Especially during winter diversity of game congregate in close proximity to the camp to quench their thirst.

After sunset floodlights illuminate the waterhole. This is the best time and place to see the endangered black rhino. This archaic mammal can often be seen drinking alongside lion and elephant. The number and interaction of the animals is the major draw card of Okaukuejo Rest Camp in Namibia.

Day 2 Etosha Okaukuejo

A early start today as we game drive in the park looking for animals. Along the way we will make a stop at the etosha pan.

Etosha Pan Facts:
The pan covers approximately 4,800 square km’s at an elevation of about 1,030 meters
It spans roughly 25% of the park
The pan is so large it can be seen from space
There is very little vegetation existing in the pan, only some soft tolerant grasses exist
It is the only known mass breeding ground for flamingos in Namibia. At times there can be around 1 million flamingos in the pan

Have your lunch at Halali and then drive back to Okaukuejo for your last night in the park.

Day 3 Windhoek
